Leandro Almeida

Leandro Almeida joined AXIA in March 2018 in the position of Managing Director of the Investment Banking Division of the Lisbon Branch. Leandro brings over 18 years of Investment Banking experience accumulated in important business hubs such as New York, London and São Paulo. Prior to joining AXIA, Leandro led BNP Paribas´s Investment Banking franchise in Brazil, as Managing Director, Head of Corporate Finance. Leandro was part of the team that re-launched BNP’s business in the country in 2010, originating, executing and closing M&A and ECM transactions in several sectors, including financial institutions, oil & gas, mining, healthcare and building materials. Prior to BNP, during 2008, Leandro worked at Itaú Unibanco, Brazil´s largest private bank, as Business Development Director. Before this, Leandro was at Merrill Lynch for a year, acting as Investment Banking Vice President, responsible for originating and executing transactions in the Brazilian financial institutions sector. Prior to his focus on the Brazilian market, Leandro was at UBS Investment Bank’s Investment Banking Division in London and later in the Financial Institutions Group of Deutsche Bank. During this period, Leandro´s focus was on the Southern European markets, working on a number of transactions with important clients in Portugal, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. Leandro began his Investment Banking career in 1999 as an Analyst in the Latin America M&A Group at JPMorgan in New York where he stayed on for three years. Leandro holds a bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of São Paulo and an MBA from INSEAD.
