Demetris Nicolaou

Demetris Nicolaou holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance and an MBA from the American University in Washington, DC. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Registered Investment Adviser, having passed the NASAA Series 65 exam. Demetris holds the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission Advanced certificate and has also completed the Certificate in Company Direction administered by the UK’s Institute of Directors. From 1994 to 2000 he worked at Emerging Markets Management in Arlington, Virginia, initially as an Investment Analyst and subsequently as a Co-Portfolio Manager, managing equity and private equity portfolios in Emerging Markets. From 2000 to 2004 he worked at Alpha Bank Ltd in Nicosia as Head of Asset Management and Private Banking. In 2004 he joined his family business, D. Nicolaou & Sons Ltd, a trading Group primarily involved in the retail and wholesale sectors and also engaged in property development and management. Demetris is the Chief Financial Officer as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Group. Demetris has served several years on the Board of the CFA Society of Cyprus originally as Secretary and later on as President. In cooperation with the Cyprus International Institute of Management, Dimitris also teaches review courses covering topics for the CFA Examination.
